Makara Futsal Club (Makara FC) is one of the earliest amateur executive futsal club in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia. Executive means that we are mostly white collar workers live in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, or Bekasi. Just like other hobbies-based club in this beloved city, Makara FC was started in the form of informal gatherings.
2002, some of us - University of Indonesia’s alumnus - frequently gathered around and played futsal at Royal Park Apartment, Gatot Subroto. In no time, our little group was growing in number and the play was also getting better and better. Unfortunately, Makara FC got kicked in the ass and must immediately leave the apartment. The ground is forbidden to us because the change of management policy regarding futsal field usage for tenants. Shame on us…
March 14th 2004, Makara FC was officially became a club and fully equipped with standard organizational equipment including the president of the club: Tetsuya Higuchi. This remain unmarried Japanese was an alumnus from Japanese Literature Faculty in University of Indonesia (UI) Class ‘96. Makara FC then recruited more members from out side of UI. Under Tetsuya’s leadership, Makara FC started to deploy more organized training method. Not a national standard, off course. Our love for the game was transforming into a little dedication.
Tetsuya’s leadership ended at the time he went back to Japan. New president was elected: Boby Satya, an alumnus from Economic Faculty in UI Class ‘95. This period was the hardest for Makara FC because we had to change our training ground a lot, from Senayan Trade Center 6th floor, GOR Pertamina Simprug, Planet Futsal Kuningan, to GOR Volley Senayan. What didn’t kill us just makes us stronger… Hell yeah!!!
Friendly match against other futsal clubs became our routine. The list is fantastic: Economic Faculty UI Class ‘95, IA-ITB, Petronas, BII Accounting Division, Indo.Net, AFA.com, KAP Amir Abadi Jusuf, Moores Rowland International, Law Firm: Sani-Aminoeddin&Partners, Dynamics Business Indonesia, Alumnus of APP, Bank Permata, STIE Perbanas Class ‘04, Jakmania, Milanisti, Big Reds, Juventini, Internisti, Motorola-GREY Worldwide, PISA Cafe & Resto MAHAKAM, Halliburton, Ricky Yacobi cs., Awal & Friends, Biang Bola, Departemen Perhubungan RI, Astra Group, Indosat, and Senayan Trade Center All-Star. We didn’t end up as winner all the time. Hey, we were not Brazilian fantastic futsalors! We were more likely a bunch of futsal lovers, or for better or worst you can call us: futsal mania, hahaha…
Makara FC was then led by its new president, Haslyansyah a.k.a Aji, from November 2006 until now. He is a college student from Communication Faculty in Mustopo University Class ‘02. Young spirit brings powerful touch to the game. Under his leadership, the training menu is changing a lot. We even hire a professional trainer now. It is not that we aim for the world, not at all. It is just that our love for the game pushes us to the need for better plays, that’s all. Have a nice game and good friendship, futsal mania!
